Before chasing the biggest move on the ASX, look at the announcement, the wider market and what investors were expecting.
A rising or falling share price is the beginning of a story, not the whole explanation. Company announcements, changing expectations for earnings and the economic backdrop can all influence what investors are willing to pay.
Start with the evidence. Read the company’s announcement and distinguish what it actually says from an interpretation of the market’s response. When no clear catalyst is established, uncertainty belongs in the story too.
